A delegation headed by Wu Yan, the vice minister of the Ministry of Education, came to the university for investigation on February 23. Wu Shixing, deputy director of the Department of Higher Education, and Zhang Guohui, deputy director of the Department of Science, Technology and Informatization; Liu Quansheng, deputy secretary-general of the Provincial Government, Yu Xiaoqi, director of the Provincial Education Department, and Zhang Lantao, deputy secretary of the provincial education work committee; President Wang Jinsong, Executive Vice President Xu Weilin, vice presidents Chu Liangyin, Ye Ling, and relevant unit leaders participated in the survey.

In the State Key Laboratory of Polymer Materials Engineering, the laboratory director Li Guangxian, professor and CAE member; and Professor Wang Qi, introduced to Wu Yan the research overview of the university in polymer materials, especially the important breakthroughs in new technologies for polymer materials processing, advanced functional materials as well as the outstanding achievements in the transformation and application of relevant scientific research achievements to effectively promote the development of polymer materials industry and technological progress of the industry. Wu Yan fully affirmed the achievements of the university in polymer materials, and encouraged everyone to make greater contribution to self-reliance in high-level science and technology.

At the State Key Laboratory of Biotherapy, Wu Yan heard the introduction of Professor Li Weimin, President of West China School of Medicine (West China Hospital), on the cultivation of top medical talent, and the introduction of Professor Wei Yuquan (CAS member), Director of the platform for the integration of key core technologies of innovative drugs, on the organized scientific research in the breakthrough of key core technologies of innovative drugs. He highly praised the university and hoped that SCU could further play the advantages of comprehensive universities and better serve the national and regional strategic development.
