On April 8, Muhammad Zahid Latif, Rector of National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, led a delegation to visit Sichuan University (SCU). Wang Jinsong, President of SCU, met with the delegation in the VIP Hall of Mingde Building on Wangjiang campus.

Wang Jinsong, on behalf of SCU, welcomed the delegation and briefly introduced SCU. He pointed out that SCU has always committed to upholding the opening-up of education. In recent years, SCU has carried out multi-level exchanges and cooperation with Pakistani universities, research institutes and Embassy of Pakistan in China, achieving significant progress in mutual visits of faculty and students, academic exchanges and so forth. Wang expressed his hope that both sides would further leverage regional advantages to strengthen cooperation in various fields including talent cultivation and scientific research, thereby jointly contributing more to promote China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the building of “Belt and Road” initiative.Latif expressed his gratitude for the warm reception at the university. He stated that SCU, with its long history, is one of the universities which own the most complete range of academic disciplines and the largest scales of higher education in China. The NUST attaches great importance on its cooperation with SCU. He expressed his hope that, through this visit, both sides would deepen collaboration in areas such as joint talent cultivation and discipline building, foster friendly exchanges among the youth between the two countries, jointly writing a new chapter in China-Pakistan higher education cooperation.
