On March 5, a delegation from the University of Southampton in the UK, led by Senior Vice-President Phillip Wright, visited Sichuan University (SCU), accompanied by Tim Standbrook, Deputy Consul-General of the United Kingdom in Chongqing.

Liu Chao, Vice President of SCU, warmly welcomed the delegation in the VIP Hall at Mingde Building on Wangjiang campus, and briefly introduced SCU. He highlighted SCU’s longstanding partnership with the University of Southampton, pointing out the solid foundation and fruitful outcomes of their collaboration. He expressed his hope that both institutions would further expand cooperation in student management, student exchanges and scientific research to foster exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations.
Prof. Phillip Wright thanked SCU for its hospitality and underscored the potential of both parties to deepen and broaden collaborative initiatives, as well as carry out diversified talent cultivation projects and academic activities.
Tim Standbrook hoped that the two universities would maintain their cooperative relationship, advance cross-cultural exchanges and scientific research to inspire students and young scholars to thrive for excellence.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement between SCU and the University of Southampton. Heads of related departments at SCU attended the event.
