The 2022 New Year gala “One Hundred Years of  Youth; Forge Ahead on a New Journey” was held in the Art Theater of Jiang'an campus on December 31. Chairman Wang Jianguo of the university council, President Li Yanrong, SCU leaders, distinguished professors Cao Shunqing and Huo Wei, and representatives of teachers and students, among others, attended the new year's party. All other teachers and students watched the gala online to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new year.

2021 is a year that saw the high-quality development of the Party construction and cause in a concerted fashion at Sichuan University. In the first round of national "double first-class" development evaluation, the university has had remarkable results and ranked among the first of all the universities under "double first-class" development. What’s more, the "top ten news of Sichuan University in 2021" was announced at the gala. The top ten news comprehensively reviewed the fruitful achievements that SCU made in various work ranging from the Party construction, talent training, teacher development, scientific research to social services.

The 2022 New Year gala kicked off with the symphonic chorus "Ode to the Red Flag & a New World". The gala was made up of three acts.

The song "Give Everything to the Party" sings that the people of Sichuan University keep in mind and remain truthful to their original intent. The dance "Oasis of Hometown" vividly reflects the picture of beautiful mountains and rivers and harmonious development between man and nature under the guidance of President Xi’s thought of ecological civilization.

The dance "Safeguard" vividly reflects the spirit of the majority of medical personnel to "protect life, rescue the dying and heal the wounded; be willing to contribute and love unselfishly". The sports dance "Youth in Pursuit of Dreams" exhibits the energetic and aspirational attitude of contemporary students at Sichuan University. The dance "Han Style and Tang Rhyme" reveals the colorful civilization of China. The evening also played a video of interviews with teacher and student representatives extending their sincere holiday greetings to SCU’s teachers and students. The representatives included the former SCU president of Lu Tiecheng, Professor Liu Jin, Distinguished Professor Huo Wei, Ni Shengqiao, Bao Ji, Professor Wu Jinrong, Professor Zou Huawei, the research fellow of Ma Lijian, and so forth.

The Dances "Twilight Melody" and "Spring Glow on the Earth" vividly depict the prosperous motherland in the new era. The chorus "China in the Lights" sings in praise of a peaceful and harmonious China in the new era. ” In the recorded video clippings "2022 New Year's Greetings", teachers, students and staff expressed their best wishes for the motherland, alma mater and the new year in the sincerest terms.

The gala drew to an end in the chorus of "Singing in Praise of the Motherland". The university TV station broadcast live the evening on its education channel.
