To commend the significant contributions made by Mr. Xie Heping, President of SCU, in driving the friendly exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan University and Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova, Academician Duca, Dean of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova, on behalf of the Academy, awarded the “Senior Honorary Academician” Medal to President Xi at SCU on May 20^th.

The medal was named after Dimitrie Cantemir, a notable philosopher of the 18^thcentury. It’s the blue ribbon of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova, which was once awarded to the Dean of Romanian Academy of Sciences and the Dean of Russian Academy of Sciences.

Xie Heping noted that, on the “B&R” Forum for International Cooperation held recently, Xi Jinping, President of the PRC, stressed that China will thoroughly implement the development concept of innovation, coordination, green, opening-up and sharing, inject strong impetus to the “B&R”, and bring about new opportunities for global development. These all laid a good foundation for deepening the communication and cooperation between Sichuan University and Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova. I hope the visit of Dean Duca could facilitate more comprehensive and in-depth cooperation of both sides in student cultivation and scientific researches, etc, he said.

Mr. Duca, on behalf of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova, expressed appreciation to Xie Heping for his significant contributions to the friendly exchanges and cooperation between both sides. He noted that, the construction of new Silk Road cannot push forward without the joint efforts of all relevant countries, adding that the exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan University and Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova could accelerate the progress and development of the two countries.

During the awarding ceremony, Mr. Duca, on behalf of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova, awarded the “Senior Honorary Academician” Medal to Mr. Xie Heping.

Before the visit, Mr. Duca proposed to award this medal to Xie Heping at the Academician Committee of Moldova, and received the consensus. It’s Duca’s important mission for this visit to award this honorary medal to Xie Heping.
