Global Alumni Entrepreneurs Association of Sichuan University was established on May 29th, 2016, which attracted 118 alumni entrepreneurs of SCU from all over the world. The Association plans to set up a Global Alumni Entrepreneurs Foundation of SCU with a capital scale of CNY one billion, which aims to support students of SCU and excellent youth in the world to start their business, transform their research findings commercially and carry out university-industry cooperation in Chengdu and even across China. Besides, it intended to provide support to the alumni for their transformation and upgrade amid “mass innovation and entrepreneurship”.
The establishment of the Global Alumni Entrepreneurs Association of SCU is one of the major theme activities of the 120thAnniversary of SCU. As an important force of building the SCU National Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Demonstration Center, the Association is geared towards combining the strength of global alumni to build a mutually beneficiary platform for win-win development. It will also give full play to the role of alumni entrepreneurs, comprehensively promote innovation and entrepreneurship education of SCU and support SCU in building a world-class university.
Recently, SCU was enlisted as one of the first batch of “Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship” Demonstration Centers together with Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Nanjing University. Academician Xie Heping, President of SCU, expressed his hope that, based on the Association, a program could be launched to provide value-added opportunities to SCU’s graduate students during their “Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, including: providing stronger innovation and entrepreneurship services, venture investment, enterprise incubation, creative realization, achievement transformation, so as to realize added value of the “Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent” projects, the “Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent” enterprises and the “Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Campaign”.
