The 2019 5th Chengdu International Forum on Precision Medicine successfully held in Chengdu.

From Sept. 20th to 21st, the 5th Chengdu International Forum on Precision Medicine, sponsored by the People’s Government of Chengdu Municipality and SCU, organized by the West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Chengdu Market Supervision Bureau and West China Medicine Technology Transfer Center, was held in Jinjiang Hotel, Chengdu. Yang Xingping, Vice Governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, Liu Quansheng, Deputy Secretary-General of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, Yang Xin, Vice President of Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Zhang Lin, Vice President of SCU, Liu Xia, Deputy Secretary-General of Chengdu Municipal People’s Government, and He Xin, Director of Chengdu Market Supervision and Administration Bureau, etc, attended the meeting. Many famous academicians, scholars and industry elites in the field of precision medicine at home and abroad also gathered on this occasion.

Li Weimin, President of the West China Hospital, Sichuan University, warmly welcomed the guests from all walks of the society. Precision medicine, as he stressed, is an important innovative strategic resource of China and a well-positioned playing ground for the future healthy development of medical care in the world. As the most active frontier area of the massive health industry, it's geared to implement the national strategies, improve the health level and livelihood of people, promote the cross-disciplinary integration, and cultivate new economic growth points. West China Hospital attempts to, fully relying on its high-quality medical resources and strong sci-tech strength, make active steps to promote the application of precision medicine and the clinical research as a pioneer and backup force in the innovative development of China’s precision medicine sector.

Yang Xingping, Vice Governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, Zhang Lin, Vice President of SCU and Liu Xia, Deputy Secretary-General of Chengdu Municipal People’s Government, delivered a speech, respectively. They warmly congratulated the successful holding of the 5th Chengdu International Forum on Precision Medicine, noting that West China Hospital of Sichuan University, as the advocator, pioneer and leader of the precision medicine in China, has been working hard to boost the clinical research and application of precision medicine in China. Some of its national, provincial and ministerial-level platforms and laboratories in the field of precision medicine have already been approved. This forum will inject fresh ideas and inspirations into the development of precision medicine and medical health industry in Sichuan and even across China, and will vigorously promote the cross-industry integration and development in the field of precision medicine.

The participants shared and exchanged their academic viewpoints in the forum, which fully showcased the latest development, sci-tech achievements and future challenges in the precision medicine sector at home and abroad, helping to facilitate collaborative innovation among medical and health institutions, colleges, research institutes and enterprises. The forum strived to advance basic and strategic research, technological innovation, product development, preparation of standards and norms, and construction of technological platform and service system in the field of precision medicine, and drive the precision medicine industry to move forward on international scale, contributing to enhancing the sci-tech innovation and competitiveness of the precision medicine industry in China.
