The university held the 2022 Commendation Meeting for Exemplary Work Units and Individuals in Undergraduate Teaching (hereinafter referred to as the Meeting) in Mingde building on Wangjiang campus on the afternoon of May 12. Vice President You Jinsong, the Student Affairs Office of the Party committee, the university’s Youth League committee, Personnel Department, Development and Planning Division, Academic Affairs Office, Supervision committee, vice deans in charge of undergraduate teaching in individual colleges (departments), teaching management staff, and teacher representatives attended the meeting.
You Jinsong acclaimed the outstanding achievements of the undergraduate teaching team in 2022 as well as the important progress in cultivating top-notch talent, developing first-class majors and first-class courses. He emphasized the importance of providing education that satisfies the people and forming a higher level of talent cultivation model. (We need) to find ways to improve the further education rate of undergraduate students, deepen undergraduate teaching reform and improve the evaluation mechanism of education and teaching. Moreover, we should accelerate the building of a high-quality education system and promote the Digital transformation of education.
The conference commended ten exemplary work units, 14 individual advanced work achievements and eight types of exemplary individuals of undergraduate teaching in Sichuan University in 2022.
Luo Lu, professor of the College of Literature and Journalism, Xu Youcai, associate professor of the College of Mathematics, Liang Weibo, professor of the West China School of Basic Medical Sciences and Forensic Medicine, and Ran Rong, professor of the College of Polymer Science and Engineering, respectively shared and exchanged experiences in the fields of new liberal arts, top-notch talent cultivation in basic disciplines, new medical sciences and new engineering disciplines. They provided ample experience regarding the promotion of "educating people for the Party and the country, and cultivating top-notch innovative talent".
Associate Professor Xu Fayan from the School of History and Cultures (Tourism), an outstanding homeroom teacher, shared his experience with regard to how to teach students according to their aptitude, help students overcome difficulties in a timely manner, and become a good teacher. Associate Professor Zhu Guiquan of the West China School of Stomatology, who won the first place in the medical group of the 6th National Youth Teacher Teaching Competition, spoke with the theme of "promoting teaching via competition, and integration of teaching and competition". He emphasized that teaching competitions should return to the realm of knowledge, internalize and guide teachers' thinking in teaching.
At the end of the meeting, everyone expressed their willingness to shoulder the mission of the times, and make undergraduate talent cultivation the core and primary task of the university's development, comprehensively promoting the high-quality development of undergraduate education and teaching in a first-class university.
