On June 14th, the “EU-China Public Lecture Series in China” co-sponsored by the EU Delegation to China, School of Economics of SCU, the Centre for European Studies of SCU and the European Union Chamber of Commence in China was held at SCU. Mr. Heuze, Financial Counselor of the EU Delegation to China, Prof. Apoteker, Chairman of the TAC Economics and Mr. Niethammer, Chairman of the Southwest Branch of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China attended it. The Lecture was attended by Prof. Shi Jian, Jean Monnet Chair Professor and director of the Jean Nonnet Centre of Excellence in SCU, and Prof. Deng Xiang, Jean Monnet Chair Professor and Assistant Dean of the School of Economics as well as other scholars and over 200 teachers and students from the School of Economics and the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures.
Prof. Shi debriefed the history and development of the European problems' research and education in SCU, noting that SCU will continue to serve as an important think tank in the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Europe, and will offer proposals and suggestions to “One Belt and One Road” strategy and the “Investment Plan for Europe” propelled by EU.
Mr. Heuze delivered a speech under the title of “Characteristics of “Investment Plan for Europe” and its synergistic effect with ‘One Belt and One Road’”.
Prof. Apoteker delivered a speech of “Public Investment Tool: Effective Utilization of Private Capital”.
Prof. Deng Xiang gave a speech named “‘One Belt and One Road’ and Western Investment in China”.
Mr. Niethammer raised some constructive suggestions to solve problems of investment environment of great concern from European investors.
During the conference, teachers and students held positive interactions and exchanges with officers from the EU Delegation and the lecturers, deepening the understanding of teachers and students into the strategic partnership between China and EU and expanding the horizon of the audience.
